Why IndieOwner Exists

Most solo-business questions fall into two bad options: pay $15–50/month for SaaS software built for a company ten times your size, or cobble together a spreadsheet you half-remember how to use six months later. What should I charge? How much tax do I actually owe this quarter? Can I afford to hire someone? These are calculations, not products — they shouldn't require an account, a trial period, or a credit card.

Every tool on IndieOwner is built and maintained by Officina Systems, a small team that also builds TomeOS and a handful of other creator-focused products. We build tools for freelancers, independent authors, and small business owners because we run one ourselves — IndieOwner is the toolkit we actually wanted to exist.

How These Tools Work

No signups, no email gate, no "upgrade to see your full result." Every calculator runs entirely in your browser — nothing you type is sent to a server or stored (see our Privacy Policy for specifics). Tools that reference tax brackets, SE tax rates, or statutory minimums are checked against current-year IRS and SSA figures and corrected when those numbers change, rather than left to quietly go stale.

If you file a Schedule C, price your own books, negotiate your own freelance rates, or sign your own business's checks, these tools are built with your actual situation in mind — not a generic "business calculator" template. Results are estimates to help you make a decision, not tax, legal, or financial advice; for anything with real stakes, confirm with a CPA or attorney.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are these tools actually free?
Yes. No paywalls, no premium tier, no signup. The site is supported by display ads, not subscriptions.
Do you store what I type into the calculators?
No. Every calculation runs client-side in your browser; nothing you enter is sent to or stored on a server. See our Privacy Policy for details.
How accurate are the tax and financial calculators?
Tools that reference tax brackets, SE tax rates, or statutory caps are built against current-year IRS and SSA figures and reviewed periodically. They're simplified estimates meant to help you make a decision quickly — not tax, legal, or financial advice. For anything with real stakes, confirm with a CPA or attorney.
How often are the tools updated?
Tax-year constants are reviewed annually when new IRS/SSA figures are published, and tools are patched promptly when a bug is reported.
Can I suggest a new tool or report a bug?
Yes — email [email protected]. We read every message.
